Spiti in winter is one of the coldest, quietest places in the Himalaya, with temperatures that can fall to -40°C. It is also one of the most beautiful, and a guided 4WD trip is the safest way to see it.

Winter Spiti temperature

Nights are extremely cold and temperatures can reach -40°C. Pack for the cold in layers, with thermals, down jackets, gloves and snow boots.

Roads in the snow

Roads can close with heavy snow. Our expedition uses 4x4 vehicles with local drivers and snow-chain support. If a road is closed, we drop Pin Valley and adapt the plan rather than push through.

Our winter route

The 8 night / 9 day route runs from Delhi to Shimla, then Narkanda, Kalpa, Tabo and Kaza, with a full day for Key Monastery, Kibber, Hikkim, Langza and Komic, and returns the same way.

Season and price

Winter departures run between October and March. The Deluxe package is ₹32,999 per person, with breakfast and dinner at every hotel, fuel, tolls, snow-chain support and permits included.
