Itinerary
1Day 1: Arrival in Leh — Acclimatization
Fly into Leh (11,562 ft). Transfer to heated hotel. Complete rest for altitude acclimatization. Evening gentle walk to Shanti Stupa for panoramic views of snow-covered Leh. Winter safety briefing.
2Day 2: Leh to Nubra via Khardung La
The ultimate winter drive! Ascend Khardung La (18,380 ft) through towering snow walls — one of the most dramatic drives on Earth. Descend into Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit Monastery and the 32-meter Maitreya Buddha statue standing alone amid snowfields.
3Day 3: Nubra — Hunder Dunes & Turtuk
Morning at Hunder's frozen sand dunes — golden sand dusted with snow, Bactrian camels resting in the cold. Drive to Turtuk — the last village near the LOC, with unique Balti culture, apricot orchards sleeping under snow, and Karakoram views.
4Day 4: Nubra to Leh — Winter Valley Drive
Return via Khardung La, enjoying the morning light on snow peaks. Afternoon in Leh — visit Thiksey Monastery, the 'Mini Potala Palace', and Shey Palace. Evening explore Leh's winter market with steaming cups of butter tea.
5Day 5: Leh to Pangong Tso via Chang La
Drive through the stark winter landscape of Changthang. Cross Chang La (17,590 ft) — the third highest motorable pass. Arrive at Pangong Tso — a 160 km expanse of frozen turquoise, utterly silent and breathtakingly beautiful. Walk on the frozen lake surface.
6Day 6: Pangong to Leh — Departure
Sunrise over frozen Pangong — a moment you'll never forget. Drive back to Leh via Chang La. Stop at the Indus-Zanskar confluence at Nimmu. Transfer to airport. Depart with memories of a Ladakh that few ever witness.
