Both of our Ladakh trips cover Leh, Khardung La, the Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake. The difference is how you travel: on a Royal Enfield Himalayan with a captain and mechanic, or in a car with a driver. Here is how the two compare, using the details on each trip page.
The two trips side by side
Both start and end in Leh, and both include airport pickup and drop, permits and stays.
- Leh Ladakh motorcycle expedition: 5 nights / 6 days, ride a Royal Enfield Himalayan, about 600 km, difficulty Challenging, season April to October, from ₹19,999 per person with two riders sharing a bike
- Ladakh Moon Land tour: 6 nights / 7 days, Innova, Xylo or Ertiga-class vehicle, about 800 km by road, difficulty Easy to moderate, season May to September, price on request
What each one adds
The bike trip is the shorter, more physical one: four riding days over Khardung La, to Nubra, across to Pangong and back over Chang La. Fuel, a mechanic, a tour captain and a backup vehicle are included.
The SUV tour adds one more day and the Moon Land at Lamayuru, about 120 km from Leh, plus a camel ride on the Hunder dunes and optional rafting and ATV rides in Nubra. It includes one day on a Royal Enfield Himalayan, with fuel not included, so you still get a taste of riding.
Which one fits you
Choose the motorcycle expedition if you ride regularly, have a valid driving licence and want the high passes under your own control. Choose the SUV tour if you would rather watch the landscape than ride it, are travelling with family or older relatives, or want a gentler schedule with the Moon Land included.
Cost and how to book
The bike trip is priced per person and per bike choice: ₹19,999 for two riders sharing one Himalayan 411, ₹24,999 for a solo rider, and ₹23,999 or ₹29,999 on the Himalayan 450. The SUV tour is quoted by date and group size, so send your dates on WhatsApp for a same-day quote. Flights to Leh are not included in either.
Questions
Is a Ladakh bike trip better than a car trip?
Neither is better for everyone. The bike trip suits riders who want the passes under their own control, and the SUV tour suits families and travellers who prefer a gentler schedule.
Which Ladakh trip is cheaper, the bike trip or the SUV tour?
The motorcycle expedition has a published starting price of ₹19,999 per person for two riders sharing a bike. The Moon Land SUV tour is quoted on request, because it depends on dates and group size.
