Ladakh and Spiti have checkposts, permits and border areas, so your papers matter more than on most trips. Here is what to carry on our trips, and what we arrange for you.
Checklist
Keep digital copies on your phone too, but do not rely on them alone: network is limited in many places.
| Document | Who needs it |
|---|---|
| Government photo ID, original plus copies | Everyone |
| Motorcycle driving licence | Everyone riding a bike |
| Aadhaar card | Spiti bike trip, for the Shipki La route |
| Vehicle registration, insurance and pollution certificate | Anyone bringing their own bike or car |
| Passport and visa | Foreign nationals |
| Booking confirmation and emergency contact | Everyone |
Permits we arrange
In Ladakh, our trips include the Inner Line Permits for Nubra and Pangong, the Ladakh union fee and environmental charges. In Spiti, all Inner Line Permits and local permissions are included, and on the Spiti bike trip the Chandratal permit too, except for guests who bring their own bike or car.
Carry the ID you gave us for the permit, because checkposts match the names.
Bringing your own motorcycle
On the Spiti bike trip you can join with your own motorcycle for ₹22,999 per person. Bring the registration certificate, valid insurance, pollution certificate and your licence, and get the bike serviced before the trip.
Foreign nationals
Some areas on our routes need a separate permit for foreign nationals, and the rules differ from those for Indian citizens. Tell us your nationality when you enquire, and we will tell you what is needed for your dates.
